Six people shot, one slashed in NYC violence after West Indian Day Parade ends Monday evening

 A Labor Day celebration in Brooklyn culminated in violence with at least six people shot and another slashed in separate incidents following the West Indian Day Parade, according to the NYPD.

Police said the shootings and stabbings occurred across four locations in Crown Heights as parade crowds dispersed between late afternoon and early evening, 

The first report came at 5:35 p.m. near 1098 Eastern Parkway, where a woman in her 40s was grazed in the back and a man in his 20s was shot in the leg. Both were hospitalized and are in a stable condition.

Police: Multiple Injured in Series of Shootings After West Indian Day Parade

Violence erupted across parts of Brooklyn Monday evening, shortly after the conclusion of the West Indian Day Parade, leaving six people shot and one person slashed, according to police.

In one instance, authorities said a man sustained multiple injuries but declined medical attention and refused to cooperate with investigators.

At approximately 6:46 p.m., two men were shot in the shoulder near Classon Avenue and Eastern Parkway. One victim was transported to Kings County Hospital, while the other arrived by private means. Both were reported to be in stable condition.

Just minutes later, at 6:55 p.m., a 53-year-old man was shot in both the neck and leg outside Yard Pot Restaurant and Bakery at the corner of Nostrand Avenue and Sterling Street. Details surrounding that incident remain under investigation.

Violence Erupts After West Indian Day Parade: Six Shot, One Slashed

Chaos broke out in Brooklyn Monday evening following the West Indian Day Parade, with six people shot and one slashed in a series of violent incidents, according to the NYPD.

In one case, a man who sustained multiple injuries refused both medical treatment and cooperation with investigators, police said.

At around 6:46 p.m., two men were shot in the shoulder near Classon Avenue and Eastern Parkway. One was taken to Kings County Hospital, while the other arrived on his own. Both are in stable condition.

Just nine minutes later, at 6:55 p.m., gunfire erupted again—this time outside Yard Pot Restaurant and Bakery at Nostrand Avenue and Sterling Street. A 53-year-old man was struck in the neck and leg and was hospitalized in critical condition. A 40-year-old woman was also hit in the ankle and later arrived at the hospital in stable condition.

Police said a person of interest is in custody but have not confirmed any connections between the separate shootings. The investigations remain ongoing.
